Over the last two years my artistic practice of mono-printing has expanded profusely as I have made insight into using different materials, textures and techniques, comprehending how I can apply this to my concept. The idea for my practice originated from revisiting old videos of myself, and then transposing them through the printing medium. From this I discovered the ‘Red Girl’ footage and began to manipulate the film stills intro prints. Inspiration for my work derives from a multitude of places, specifically looking into how we perceive and manipulate our own memories until they become unrecognisable and foreign to us. This self-realisation led me to explore the process of iconography and how the ‘Red Girl’ has become iconic in our modern culture.
