Combining the disciplines of both science and contemporary art, my
practice revolves around the representation of the human impact on the Earth’s geology. I explore the idea of human corruption in ecology by creating crystalline sculptures made from plastics, resin and concrete. My sculptures are layered with both natural and man-made elements, much like the creation of natural strata within rocks and minerals, however these sculptures contain unnatural colours, shapes and forms.
Whilst climate change increases, the issues of pollution and plastic waste will become more apparent and human impact on the Earth’s geological record will manifest itself. As millions of years pass, the era of the Anthropocene will resurface in structures perhaps similar to the ones I have created.
“The natural world is the greatest source of excitement. The greatest source of visual beauty. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.”
– Sir David Attenborough
