My work explores the grief I experienced during the aftermath of my Granny’s death. My work aims to create something beautiful out of pain and also attempts to encourage viewers to discuss their own personal heartbreak, in order that they can better process life’s difficulties.
My drawings are produced through the time consuming process of pinpricking. This is representative of the long and full-filled life that my Granny led. The process of removing tiny holes in the tissue paper alludes to my concept of absence and a person slipping away from reality. This is reinforced by my invisible drawings only made visible through a light source.
For this exhibition the drawings are presented within a large installation that is representative of a boat sail sinking. Viewers have the ability to walk then crawl underneath the installation as if they were too falling and slipping away.
