My work is informed by the experience and characteristics of water and the idea of turbulence vs calm. The theme of water isn’t necessarily integral to the audience, instead I aim to create a painting that evokes an aesthetic emotional reaction; with a sense of calming and a moment of pause, synonymous with what I believe the effects of being by the sea can be. My way of working is by chance and not pre-planned; it’s about the painting as a process of movement and change, again similar to the unpredictability and constant movement of water.
