My work focuses on the human body, using it as a fluid, flexible tool of emotion generation. Busy paintwork within the figure causes an opposition to surroundings and therefore a loneliness in them. The pairs of figures struggle together within the square, desiring human interaction, but behaving ambiguously. I want it to be unclear what they are doing in order that each tells its own story to different people, associating them with elements of their own individual experience. I work in different sizes, between intimate and large scale, forcing the viewer to look close and stand back as they try to decipher the images.
